 BSNLEU Silver Jubilee Conference Rekindled Cherished Memories 👍

Dear Comrades,

           The Silver Jubilee Conference marking the 25th Anniversary of the BSNL Employees Union (BSNLEU) was held with great enthusiasm on 24.06.2026 at the IMA Hall, Madurai.

                   The proceedings commenced with the hoisting of the union flag by Com S. Mohandas, All India Vice President of AIBDPA and a senior trade union leader.

               Com Marimuthu, Circle Secretary of BSNLEU, welcomed the participants. The conference was inaugurated by Com S. Chellappa, AGS  BSNLEU.

              Com Animesh Mitra, General Secretary of BSNLEU, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, he emphasized that in the present circumstances, BSNLEU, AIBDPA, and the Contract Workers Union must work together in unity and coordination if we are to achieve our demands such as wage revision and pension revision.

                He was followed by Com P. Abhimanyu, Vice President  BSNLEU, who delivered an elaborate and inspiring address. He recalled that the history of our trade union movement had begun even before the formation of BSNLEU. He highlighted the achievements of the union in resisting the disinvestment of BSNL and in forging strong unity between employees and officers. Stressing the challenges ahead, he underscored the necessity of strengthening coordination committees in every district of Tamil Nadu. His nearly one-hour speech brought back many cherished memories and reminded participants of the glorious victories won through struggle.

       Thereafter, Com P. Sampath of the Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front, Comrade R. Rajasekar, Circle Secretary of AIBDPA, and Com Syed Idrees, circle Secretary of TNTCWU, conveyed their greetings and felicitations.

               Following the lunch break, senior comrades around sixty two who had dedicated their entire lives to the growth and success of BSNLEU were invited from across Tamil Nadu and honoured with memento and shawl for their invaluable contributions.

                      Among those honoured and shared their experiences were Com S. Mohandas, Com Bhadri (Member, Editorial Board of Theekathir), Com Indira (State Executive Member, Women Pensioners Committee), Com Chinnaiyan (Erode), Com Muthukumarasamy (Cuddalore), Com Venkataraman (Coimbatore), Com Subramani (Tiruppur), Com Gnanasekaran (Vellore), Comrade Gopal (Salem), Com Selvin Sathyaraj (Madurai), and Com Palanichamy (Nagercoil). They shared their memories and experiences with the gathering.

             Around 400 comrades, including 60 women members, representing BSNLEU, AIBDPA, and TNTCWU from all parts of Tamil Nadu, participated in the conference and enriched the event by sharing their cherished memories.

                The BSNLEU Silver Jubilee Conference provided an excellent opportunity to revisit and reflect upon our trade union heritage, history, sacrifices, and struggles. It truly emerged as a memorable and meaningful event.
