Resounding Success of Special Convention to Repeal Pension Validation Act – Chennai, 27.02.2026
The Special Convention organized by the Forum of Civil Pensioners Associations (FCPA), Tamil Nadu, at Chennai on 27.02.2026, was a stupendous and historic success, with the participation of more than one thousand pensioners.
Central Government pensioners from various departments — Postal & RMS, BSNL, Railways, Accounts & Audit,Cpwd, Income Tax, Central Excise, and other departments including Tamil Nadu State Government Pensioners — attended in large numbers.
Pensioners travelled from across Tamil Nadu including Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Vellore, Cuddalore and Pondicherry. The enthusiastic participation of a good number of women comrades, particularly from Coimbatore and Chennai, was widely appreciated.
The convention paid rich homage to the demise of veteran Communist leader, freedom fighter and beloved people’s leader of Tamil Nadu, R. Nallakannu (aged 101).
The convention was presided over by Com. D. Balasubramanian, President, and the welcome address was delivered by Com. R. Rajasekar, Convenor.
A strong resolution was adopted demanding:
Repeal of the Pension Validation Act, 2025
Inclusion of Pension Revision in the Terms of Reference of the 8th Central Pay Commission
Withdrawal of the anti-pensioner remarks describing unfunded cost of non-contributory pension schemes as “unfunded liabilities”
Immediate settlement of the long-pending pension revision of BSNL pensioners
The resolution was proposed by Com. S. Sundarakrishnan, CS, AIBSNLPWA TN.
The convention was addressed by distinguished political leaders including:

All the leaders unequivocally extended their party’s full support to the justified struggle of pensioners. They assured to raise the validation issue of pensioners in the session of the Parliament
